About this project

Deficit, debt, fiscal trajectory: Belgium's public finances are a constant topic in the press and in political debate, and everyone has their own solution. Yet it remains hard to get the full picture: where the imbalances come from, how large they are, and how Belgium really differs from its neighbours. This site brings together the official figures (Eurostat, National Bank of Belgium, Federal Planning Bureau, High Council of Finance…) and puts them in perspective, so that everyone can form their own opinion, with the sources to back it up.
